Prof. Nelly Mateeva

Dr. Mateeva is currently a Professor within the Department of Chemistry at Florida A&M University. She received her PhD from Sofia State University “St. Kl. Ohridski”, Sofia, Bulgaria. After post-doctoral appointments at Florida State University and College of Pharmacy, Florida A&M University, she joined the Faculty of FAMU in 2005. Her research interests are focused on fundamentals and applications of novel nanomaterials from electrospun synthetic and natural polymers as well as on the synthesis and biological activity of natural products and their analogues.  Dr. Mateeva is teaching Analytical Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, and Chemical Separations courses and training numerous graduate and undergraduate students. 

Dr. Mateeva is the past Chair of the Florida Section of the American Chemical Society. She is a member of the Committee on Analytical Reagents at the American Chemical Society which develops and approves the specifications and procedures for reagents and standard-grade reference materials published in Reagent Chemicals.
